Dear Patients, Families, and Community Members,

I want to personally welcome you to K’ima:w Medical Center (KMC), an entity of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, which provides healthcare services to the residents of Hoopa and surrounding communities of rural Humboldt County, California.  K’ima:w (Hupa for “good medicine”) Medical Center is an ambulatory health clinic, the only tribal health clinic in California with Joint Commission accreditation (sustained since 2000).  Our mission is to provide high quality health care to the Native American people and all others who may seek our health services in the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation and surrounding area.  We aim to continuously improve the quality of our service we provide and to improve all aspects of life in our community.

Health services offered at KMC include medical, behavioral health, pharmacy, alcohol and drug treatment, dental, laboratory and imaging.  KMC also provides diabetes and senior nutrition programming, access to specialists through tele-medicine, transportation, assistance with referrals, and operates the only tribal ambulance service in California, which operates 365 days a year.  Furthermore, we provide numerous grant related services, which we welcome you to explore on our website!

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work together with you in achieving optimal health.  We are so thankful to be able to grow “tilté” (Hupa for “strong”) with you as a “niwho:n” (Hupa for “healthy”) community.

Sincerely,

Stephen Stake, DrPH, MHS, CPH
