MMIW What to Do

What to Do When Someone Goes Missing

  • Contact family, friends, and co-workers, or their significant other and ask them if they have heard from the missing person or seen them.
    • Ask family and friends if they have an app for location tracking with the missing person
  • Contact the local jails, hospitals, Homeless Shelters, and the last place to call is the morgue.
    • Call to check if they were arrested; check hospitals to see if they were admitted, and check the homeless shelters.
  • Contact your local Police Department or Tribal Police to file a missing person report. You will need to have a recent photo of them or know what they were wearing when they went missing.
  • Social Network: Check their social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) to see if they posted anything lately.
  • Contact your local MMIP Program
