COVID-19/Flu Alerts:

  • COVID-19 has not gone away
    • New variants circulating
      • New variant Arcturus (omicron variant BB.1.16) reported to be very contagious. 
      • New symptom includes conjunctivitis (like "pink eye")
  • Please be mindful of COVID-19/Flu and other respiratory illnesses
  • Please get your Flu and COVID-19 Vaccine/Booster
  • We continue to offer antiviral medication for COVID-19 
    • Must start within 5 days of symptom onset
    • Ages 12+

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus)

  • Documented cases of RSV within the very young population in our community
  • Some required hospitalization
  • Symptoms: runny nose, decrease in appetite, coughing, sneezing, fever, and wheezing
  • Symptoms usually appear in stages, not all at once
  • Please seek medical care if you feel your child has RSV

KMC COVID-19 Vaccine Update:

  1. Moderna and Pfizer Bivalent Boosters 
    1. Available for children age 5+
    2. Available for 18 years of age and older
    3. Targets the Omicron Variants BA.4 and BA.5 which are very contagious

  2. CDC Vaccine Recommendation 
    1. Vaccines: Age Indication: 6 months and older
    2. Bivalent Boosters:
      1. Pfizer: Age Indication: 5 - 11 years (Dose: 10 µg), 12 years and older (Dose: 30 µg)
      2. Moderna: Age Indication: 6 - 11 years (Dose: 25 µg), 12 years and older (Dose: 50 µg)

  3. It is safe to get both COVID-19 vaccine and influenza vaccine on the same day

Infection Control Reminders:

  1. Wear a mask indoors in public places and consider in vehicles 
  2. Stay up to date with vaccine 
  3. Get tested if you have symptoms
  4. This continues to be a highly contagious virus so protect you/protect others 
  5. Maintain good hand hygiene and consider the stay more than 6 feet for less than 15-minute guidance

COVID-19 Treatment Update

  1. You may be eligible for COVID-19 treatment
  2. You must start meds within 5 days of symptoms 
  3. KMC continues to maintain a supply of COVID-19 antiviral pills (Paxlovid) for treating eligible high risk patients 12 years of age and older
