MAIZAL RIVERA
Maizal Rivera was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas in a bilingual Spanish/English speaking household. He attended Nursing school at University of the Incarnate Word and received his Nursing degree in 2004. As a nurse he trained in Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow transplant, Pediatric Trauma and Critical Care.
In 2012 Maizal received his master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He has experience in Rural Medicine, Urgent Care, Pediatrics, Family Practice, and Hospice. In 2022 he began work as a Locum Provider working in remote clinics serving Native American communities in the Pacific Northwest. He believes strongly in life-long education, patient empowerment, and team strengthening.
He continues his training, learning from the rich history of the cultures he encounters and addressing health disparities of underserved communities. He has a daughter studying nursing at UT Health San Antonio.
